Puerto Rican Culture Through Art

Visiting a museum in puerto rico is more than looking at a beautiful piece of art; it’s a time machine that allows you to understand an artist’s culture and their history. From paintings to photography, an artist provides those observing the art a lens into a different place and time, with the purpose of capturing a moment and evoking a certain feeling from observers. Take a break from the heat while taking a look into San Juan’s roots by planning a visit to the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico during your stay on the island.

A relatively new museum, Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico started construction in 1996, with their first exhibition showing in 1998 and their official opening in 2000. And, in 2011, the museum underwent construction, improving the already beautiful facade even further. The gorgeous exterior of the building is only rivaled by the hidden treasures inside.
